Archimedes famously said, “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it and I shall move the world.” Back in 200 BC when Archimedes made scientific and mathematical discoveries, he would’ve never imagined the orders of magnitude impact the technological discovery of the internet would have on the world. Now, it is the norm that we can connect with people from across the world with a simple click of a button.
In honor of #NationalInternetDay, we sat down to discuss how the internet has changed since we started Aurora in 1990. Our mission has always been to use leading edge technology to solve our customers’ complex business problems. At the beginning of Aurora’s life, this was done by helping solve connectivity issues faced by our customers and making sure that data was available. As the internet has grown exponentially, cybersecurity became a relevant problem for many organizations. With the rise of more internet data came a rise in more malicious activity and data misuse. Ever since cybersecurity emerged as a focus for Aurora, our objective has been to ensure that our customer’s data is in the right hands, the right place, and at the right time. As the internet has become an increasingly large part of our daily lives, so has cybersecurity. This has allowed us to grow our team and our reach. We operate in three business units: State, Local, & Education, Federal, and Commercial. In all three units, we provide professional services and security consulting services.
Even since the National Internet Day in 2019, we have seen so much change in how the internet impacts our lives. Now, on #NationalInternetDay in 2020, the internet is our primary tool for connecting with one another as we work from home. In our personal lives, we rely on social media, zoom, and other apps powered by the internet to connect with our friends and family. As our personal and professional devices become more intertwined, cybersecurity is crucial moving forward.
