Who’s on First? Keeping Track of the Mergers & Acquisitions of 2021 So Far

We are six months into 2021 and there has been a lot of movement in the cybersecurity industry as far as mergers and acquisitions go. In fact, Aurora was acquired by Plurilock in April, giving us a wider reach and new innovative solutions to offer our customers. Here’s a summary of some key mergers and acquisitions:

Help Systems
In February, Help Systems announced their acquisition of Digital Defense to enhance their cybersecurity portfolio, improving their Vulnerability Management and Pen Testing Capabilities. Other acquisitions to broaden Help Systems’ cybersecurity portfolio in the past few years include FileCatalyst, Vera, Titus, Bolster Security, Colbalt Strike, Bolden James, Clearswift, GlobalSCAPE and Agari.

Symphony Technology Group (STG) to buy McAfee’s Enterprise Business
In March 2021, McAfee announced it is entering into an agreement to divest the Enterprise business to Symphony Technology Group (STG) and will operate as a new company. This comes 6 months after McAfee went public.

Aurora is a Gold McAfee Partner and continues to be committed to selling and servicing McAfee solutions both to our SLED and Enterprise customers.

Okta
Okta has recently signed a definitive agreement to acquire Auth0. This acquisition will combine the identity platforms of Auth0 and Okta, bringing better flexibility and choice to their customers.

Aurora has engineers on staff that are certified in Okta’s Identify Access Management portfolio. As an Okta partner, we see this acquisition as an opportunity to better protect our customers with top-line solutions.

Thoma Bravo
In March of 2021 Thoma Bravo announced their agreement to acquire Calypos Tech. They also announced a strategic acquisition of Calabro March 2021 from KKR with the intent to grow in their Cloud-first Customer Experience. Both acquisitions come after announcement to combine ironSource and Thoma Bravo advantage to create a publicly-traded business platform for the app economy.

In March of 2021, Thoma Bravo also announced intent to acquire Talend, a leader in data integration and data integrity.

In April of 2021, Proofpoint announced a definitive agreement to be acquired by Thoma Bravo.

Synnex and Tech Data Merger
Synnex and Tech Data announced a merger in March of 2021. his merger makes the combined company the world’s largest IT distributor with a combined revenue of $57 billion.
